First Gig.

Yo friends and family of Teh Forum.

I, Jinzo, will be playing my first concert on saturday. It's a battle of the bands, and the winning band gets $500 cash moneys! Nine bands are playing, and only one gets to win. There are two Acoustic/Indie bands, two like prog type bands, about 3 Metal bands, and then us. Our band name is Lukewarm Firestorm.

For the fun of it, here's the setlist we're playing:

Travelin' Band by Creedance Clearwater Revival
Universal Blues by The Redwalls
I'd Love to Change the World by Ten Years After
Don't Look Back in Anger by Oasis
Time by Pink Floyd

As you can see, we only do covers. But we do put our own twists on songs.

Anyway, just thought you'd like to know.

In Time, we cut out the clockwork intro, skipping right ahead to the drum fill before the vocals. We play through the song as is, but after the lyric "thought I'd something more to saaaaaaaaay", we do four clicks into the solo section from Time at double speed.

Pretty rockin' way to end our portion, I think.

Well, Everyone, the results are in, and Lukewarm Firestorm got second place!

First place was this heavy metal band that everybody in the area knew, so the audience was singing along and headbanging and whatnot. I figured they would win.

But second place isn't so bad out of 10 bands that were actually there.

Congratz!

My band, Titanium, will be doing a small gig on this or next friday to introduce teh new 8th-graders. We'll only play Master of Puppets, since our bassist, the only one with a competent note-program and printer, haven't printed out the drum notes, and our drummer is quite new (But certainly better than expected!)

I've only done one gig, it was on my 16th at a pretty cool club. 'Bout 30-40 people there in all, we opened for a band that's HUGE locally down here. We only played a few really annoying poppy covers, but ti was still pretty cool.
