I think the problem is people confuse FACT with Truth. The Bible is not fact. That is fundementalism. The fact is, FACT did not exist until the 19th century. If the bible said what actually had happened (keep in mind most of us couldn't make heads or tails of what the formation of the universe involved today), the bible wouldn't have been accepted. The bible is Truth not fact.

People who accept it as fact are in for trouble with the conflicting stories of Judas's death, and are the kind of people who believe those museums that say the universe was created 4,000 (rough number, probably wrong) years ago.

Oh, and a websters dictonary definition for you:

Fact: Something that can be verified by an Outside Observer
Truth: ideal or fundamental reality apart from and transcending perceived experience*

*Actually there are multiple definitions, but this is the one I'm using.

Oh, and Catholic Creationism/Darwinism is dumb, because creationism is fundamentalism which Chatolicism condemns.
